Originally from Taiwan, Chi Nan Wu came to Virginia in 1973 and became a truck driver, delivering bean sprouts. He saw an opportunity for the Asian vegetable used in a variety of dishes, and started cultivating his own in large, water-filled cans. The business grew from there.
In 1984, Chi Nan and his wife, Mei Chu, opened a hydroponic factory in Springfield, Virginia.
In 2006, the business flourished and the Wu's decided to open a 28,000 sq ft factory in King George, Virginia on seventy-six acres. Now, with his son Alex appointed as Chief Operating Officer, the factory was producing at favorable levels, averaging 38,000 lbs of bean sprouts a day.
In 2018, disaster struck, and a fire engulfed the entire facility.
In 2021, after a long road to recovery, a brand-new facility opens its doors. Stretching over 44,000 sq ft and ready to provide their customers with the finest bean sprouts and serve the mid-Atlantic region once again.
